Leipsoi Dodekanisou

Lipsi is a small cluster of about 30 islands in the extreme southeastern Aegean, between Patmos and Leros. The largest island of the group, Lipso, is the only one that is inhabited. It is a place with many beautiful beaches, olive groves and vineyards.

Chora, the main and only village of the island, is built amphitheatrically around the port. You can walk down its narrow streets and admire the white houses with the blue shutters and the Cathedral of St. John the Theologian.

Lipsi is a quiet place with friendly and hospitable people, but it is not very popular with tourists. However, it is worth mentioning that the Italians have fallen in love with the island and have created an entire settlement with cottages for the summer.

How to get there:

By ship from Piraeus on Tuesdays. The ship leaves the port at 15:00 and arrives at Lipsi at 00:45.
By ship from Leros and Patmos up to 4 times a day by flying dolphin or speedboat, only in the summer months though.
The island is also connected to Samos, Ikaria, Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes.
The paved roads of Lipsi are only 14 km. long and there are almost no vehicles on the island. There is a municipal bus which connects the main town to the most popular beaches. Also, you can go anywhere you want on foot as the distances are short.
